LIZZY'S STORY

Lizzy's Story

Lizzy’s Personal Story Fighting Osteosarcoma

At the tender young age of 9 our daughter, Lizzy, lived a normal girl’s life of jumping rope, gymnastics and playing with Barbie dolls.  She enjoyed her daddy-daughter dates, playing Legos with her siblings and shopping with her mother.  One day, Lizzy began to complain of “growing pains” in her knee and we decided to get it checked out by her doctor.  To our shock, amazement and unbelief, we heard what no parent should ever hear, “Your child has cancer.”  For the next 15 months, Lizzy was treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Lizzy's full story can be found all on her Facebook page. You can go back to the very beginning of her walk of faith through cancer.

The End of a Strong Battle

Tragically, on March 15th, 2018, Lizzy bravely and courageously finished her battle to bone cancer. Her race against cancer, as well as too many others, ended too soon due to the need for a cure for Osteosarcoma. Her last contribution was her desire to donate parts of her body to St. Jude for further research and help in finding a cure for Osteosarcoma. Her passion for her purpose of faith, generosity and compassion kept her strong throughout her journey and Lizzy’s legacy will live on and continue to impact others through the foundation’s ability to build a support system for others going through the same hardships.

Lizzy’s Legacy

Lizzy was featured on the NBC Today Show, picture and story displayed on the menu in 3,500 Chili's Restaurants, honored at professional and college sporting events, recorded 3 songs, featured in a Target video with Chip and Joanna Gaines and multiple national St. Jude commercials.  Denver Nugget’s Michael Porter JR was so impacted by his visit with Lizzy he shared on Instagram, “Lizzy was one of the most amazing people I have ever met.” But none of this compares to her ability to generously live and share compassion with others throughout her journey.

Lizzy's greatest accomplishment was positively impacting and touching lives everywhere she went. Her final contribution was donating her body to St. Jude for further research and help in finding a cure for Osteosarcoma. Even at the end of her fight, Lizzy was thinking of other young children with cancer. With her compassion and dedication in mind, The Lizzy’s Walk of Faith Foundation strives to find a cure for Osteosarcoma and other pediatric cancer.
