Where Lizzy’s Walk of Faith Donations Go

Make An Impact

Childhood cancer & Osteosarcoma research is severely underfunded in the U.S.

Where Government Funding Goes

In a given year, around 26,000 individuals face the challenging diagnosis of Osteosarcoma, and sadly, about 1,000 of these cases are identified in the United States. Among those diagnosed, there is a 76% 5-year survival rate. However, when Osteosarcoma spreads to the lungs, the survival rate plunges to 28%. We recognize the profound impact that these statistics have on individuals and their loved ones.

At Lizzy’s Walk of Faith, we wholeheartedly believe that through adequately funded cancer research and the development of innovative treatments, we can substantially improve these numbers. It is our heartfelt mission to bring hope to those affected by Osteosarcoma and to contribute to advancements in research and care.

Despite the admirable efforts of organizations like Lizzy’s Walk of Faith, it's disheartening to note that less than 1% of all government funding for childhood cancer, which is already a mere 1% of their overall budget, is allocated to Osteosarcoma research. This stark reality emphasizes the urgency and necessity for increased attention and resources in this field.

Osteosarcoma treatment has not changed in more than 40 years – Lizzy’s Walk of Faith wants to change that

The need for Osteosarcoma development and treatment research is underscored by the fact that the prescribed treatment for this form of cancer has remained unchanged for over 40 years. This is particularly concerning given that Osteosarcoma is the most prevalent bone cancer in both children and young adults. Our collective goal is to transform this landscape and pioneer new avenues beyond the current standard of chemotherapy and surgery.

Where will my donation to Lizzy’s Walk of Faith go & who will it help?

Your generous donation to Lizzy’s Walk of Faith can make a tangible impact by directly supporting research initiatives at institutions like St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Osteosarcoma Institute, Ronald McDonald House, and Children’s Mercy Kansas City. Not only will your contribution aid in advancing treatment options, but it will also provide essential support to families navigating the challenges of an Osteosarcoma diagnosis. Our foundation extends financial gifts to these families, offering assistance during and after treatment.

We invite you to join us on Lizzy’s Walk of Faith, where your compassion and support can help rewrite the story for those affected by Osteosarcoma. Together, we can make strides toward a brighter, more hopeful future.
